  Active Seniors Program
Manual and Audiocassette Tape

Ottawa Public Health has a program designed to keep seniors active and strong. The Active Seniors Program is a 45-minute audiocassette tape and instruction manual that guides a group through a blend of exercises to improve balance, muscular strength, stability and flexibility. It brings together the combined expertise of public health professionals and health and fitness experts. It is easy to use, high quality, safe, motivating and fun!

The program manual is user-friendly with diagrams and clear directions. The tape has background music that sets an upbeat mood and instructions to lead you through the exercises. You will learn how to get started, why strength training is important, safety tips, motivation ideas, and community resources. The program is of benefit to all seniors including those using wheelchairs, scooters, walkers and canes.
